(Shawnee Press). As a standard text in the field, Choral Arranging is a must for home or class study and a valued reference source for every music library.. Hack to Respectable in No Time This book graces my relatively short list of life-changing music books. Having much varied experience, and little opportunity for classroom instruction, I have relied heavily on book recommendations to fill in the gaps. I was tremendously blessed to find a loaner copy of this book shortly before taking on a spot as choir director. I found myself facing a choir wanting harmonies . Traditonal/Good Knowledge 'Choral Arrangang' by Hawley Ades is an old fashioned book! But 'old fashioned' meaning profound knowledge of the subject. A very well written manual for choral composers and arrangers containing lots of clear explanations, tips and note examples. My opinion is that even professional arrangers can pick up ideas from it (like I did!).LH, The Netherlands. Highly recommended. MusicFreak Exactly what I needed. If you are well-versed in music theory and you need to get to the nitty-gritty of choral writing/arranging concepts, this book is absolute perfection. There's no babble, no long explanations - simply one example after the other illustrating the rules and concepts behind successful choral writing. Highly recommended.
