Mark Miller said Fantastic for advanced beginner. This is a fantastic songbook for a developing beginner interested in acoustic guitar in a bluegrass vein. It would not be a good choice for an absolute beginner, as it does not take you step-by-step through exercises that teach basic chords and flatpicking techniques. It's a songbook, not an instruction book. Also, the pieces are challenging for a beginner, especially the fiddle tunes. But for anyone who has completed an introductory level book such as the Acoustic Guitar Method or equivalent--or anyone who can play open . "RIPPED OFF!!!" according to K. Fowler. I subscribe to Acoustic Guitar. To help advertise their products, they send regular emails that usually contain the instruction for one song and then a link to buy the complete set through Amazon. I have in the past received the books which can be carried from one location to the next.
