DESCRIPTION:

A Little Less Meat, A Lot More Background I began reading Jennifer Estep’s young adult books, falling deeply in book-lust with each new offering. Recently I graduated to her Elemental Assassin series. After three excellent books about Gin Blanco and her rag-tag, or rather, highly polished crew, I’m kind of addicted. This series is deeply snarky, violent, and unapologetic. After three viciously delightful books, I found myself a little disappointed in the fourth installment. It isn’t that I didn’t enjoy reading it; I very much delighted in this book. However. Robin Snyder said I know there is a better story in there I’m just waiting to get to it.. I know there is a better story in there I’m just waiting to get to it. 3.25 girlfight StarsMy enjoyment of this book increase by about 25% from the rest of the series. Reason 1 for that is that I stopped listening to the audio for this. It’s not that the narrator is bad, she is actually pretty okay. But there is a ton of repetition EVERYWHERE and since I’m reading this I can eyeskim most of the rehashes and recaps of every little thing. It feels like there is about 25-30 unnecessary pages of the stuff. The second reason is Owen. I like him as the love interest. He is new to dating an assassin, but . ."I know there is a better story in there I’m just waiting to get to it." according to Robin Snyder. Elektra LaFleur is skilled and efficient, with deadly electrical elemental magic as potent as my own Ice and Stone powers. I’d rather face a dozen lethal assassins any night than deal with something as tricky, convoluted, and fragile as my feelings. And what Bria doesn’t know just might get us both dead.. But here I am. I intend to kill LaFleur—or die trying—because Mab wants the assassin to take out my baby sister, Detective Bria Coolidge, too
