Master storyteller Deborah Nourse Lattimore brings to wondrous life all the adventure and magic of three tales of the distant past.. Journey to the Egyptian Netherworld with a young girl named Merit, a wicked priest, and a winged cat.Face the challenges of the Goddess with Minoan prince Akros and his sister Illyra.Fight for freedom in ancient Babylon with slave boy Enki and his ally, the demon of storms.Step into three glorious ancient worlds, where magic amulets are gifts of the gods, where angry Priestesses set impossible tasks, and where compassion can help set people free

Easy to read, fun to read which is the point of children's books. Lattimore paints an interesting, though at times unrealistic, picture of three ancient cultures -- Egypt (period unclear), the Near East (though she is confusing the neo-Bablyonian period with the tower of Babel story), and mythical Minoan times. The language of the storeis is simple so children in upper grade school may be able to handle it. The plots are also interesting and because they involve children or young. D. W. COURT said A definite read aloud or independent read. We have been studying the Acient World this year. My daughters loved the tales inside this book. It is a must have.
